Learn how to make no sew fabric pumpkins using an old sock and no styrofoam to create an inexpensive and rustic piece of fall decor.
Fall is hands down my favorite season. The weather is cool and crisp, the trees begin to show their beautiful colors and you get to start making all the cozy comfort foods again. I have to admit that although I love fall, I don’t really decorate too much. I like to keep things really simple. With that being said, I also love a good DIY project that’s easy to make, beautiful and inexpensive. These no sew fabric pumpkins can be made absolutely free, depending on the materials you have on hand, or relatively inexpensively.
All you need is an old sock, preferably a fuzzy one, some fabric and a couple other details. And let’s face it, you probably needed to clean out your sock drawer anyway, so why not put those old socks to good use instead of pitching them? Keep in mind there are so many variations of these no sew pumpkins, so really the sky’s the limit on this one!

HOW TO MAKE NO SEW FABRIC PUMPKINS
Cut the toe off of a fuzzy sock.
Roll the sock back like you would to create a sock bun.
Cut a piece of fabric (2 if the fabric is sheer) approximately 12″ x 12″.
Place the rolled sock in the middle of the fabric and pull the fabric up over the side of the sock and tucking it into the middle. You may need to trim a bit of the fabric towards the end.
Use hot glue to secure the fabric to the sock.
Cut your cinnamon stick or regular stick to the length you prefer and glue it into the center of the no sew fabric pumpkin.
Add any embellishments you want.
Fluff the pumpkin and adjust the pumpkin to your liking.
NOTES
- You can use a premade sock bun donut in place of the rolled sock.
- Try wrapping a chunky yarn around the sock instead!
- For a fuller look, you could add stuffing to these no sew pumpkins.
- These can be made without hot glue, just be sure to tuck the fabric in well.
