When we moved into our home a few years ago, I had a big transition from a home with mostly carpet to one without any. I had to adjust my cleaning routine and figure out the best way to clean my laminate wood floors. Because I’m me and slightly crunchy, I’m always looking for ways to clean my home with natural products instead of harsh chemicals. After searching how to make natural floor cleaner, I pulled from a few places and created my own that works really well! It’s streak free, uses more natural ingredients that you probably have in your home already and costs very little money.
You can make this floor cleaner to use in the Swiffer Wet Jet mops or my favorite O-Cedar spray mop that I think is far superior to the Swiffer. I love that it doesn’t require any batteries and sprays so much better and farther. You can also use this same recipe for a mop and bucket form, just simply add as much hot water as you need!

Ingredients for DIY Laminate Floor Cleaning Solution
- DISTILLED WHITE VINEGAR: Vinegar is a great addition to homemade floor cleaner because it helps to remove grease and break down dirt and grime lingering on your floors.
- ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL: Isopropyl alcohol helps to disinfect surfaces and gives the cleaner a streak-free finish.
- DISH SOAP: Dish soap works through dirt, grease and grime to give your floors a thorough clean.
- ESSENTIAL OILS: I like adding essential oils to my homemade floor cleaner to neutralize the alcohol and vinegar smell. I love to use citrus oils like lemon and orange to give your home a nice, fresh and clean scent!
- DISTILLED WATER: It’s best to use distilled water in homemade cleaning products because it’s free from impurities, unlike tap water.
