Three Easy Christmas Gifts in a Jar

Learn how to make three easy Christmas gifts in a jar to give your loved ones a special homemade sweet treat this holiday season!

Christmas gifts don’t have to be complicated. Sometimes people just need something that will make their lives a little bit easier. It’s also always nice to receive a handmade gift. It’s really special to know someone took the time to handcraft a gift just with you in mind. One easy way that anyone can make a homemade gift is to make Christmas gifts in a jar. You don’t need any special skills to make these gifts in a jar and those who receive them can have a homemade treat at their fingertips. All you need for these gifts are ingredients you probably already have on hand and some quart size mason jars. THREE EASY CHRISTMAS GIFTS IN A JAR

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE HOT COCOA IN A JAR

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 cups cocoa powder
  • 4 tbs corn starch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups dried milk powder
  • 1 cup chopped or shredded semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1-30 oz container dehydrated marshmallows

Add all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix.

Using a funnel, add the homemade hot cocoa mix to mason jars.

Add a lid and a gift tag and store in a cool place for up to a year (or until the ingredients in the mix expire).

How to Use Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix

Add 3-4 tbs of mix per 1 cup hot water or milk and enjoy!

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PANCAKE MIX IN A JAR

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar (add 1/3 for sweeter pancakes)
  • 1 tbs baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt

Add all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix.

Use a funnel to add the homemade pancake mix into a quart size mason jar and store in a jar in a cool place for up to a year (or until the ingredients in the mix expire).

How to Use Homemade Pancake Mix

Add the pancake mix to a mixing bowl, then add the following:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or melted butter allow butter to cool before using
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup, pour onto a greased griddle and cook for 1-2 minutes, then flip the pancake and cook another minute.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE BROWNIE MIX IN A JAR

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Add each ingredient into a quart size in the order shown above, making sure to level each ingredient before adding the next by gently shaking the jar. You may need to press the brown sugar in to make it fit.

Add a lid and a gift tag to the mason jar and store in a cool dark place.

How to Use Homemade Brownie Mix

Pour the brownie mix into a large bowl and add:

  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 sticks melted butter (cooled slightly)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbs vanilla extract

Add the brownie batter to a greased 8.5 x 11” pan and bake at 350°F for 23-25 minutes.
