This homemade beard oil is made with only a few simple ingredients and helps to strengthen, moisturize and soften beard hair. Use this beard oil once a day for the best results!
For quite some time, at least the last 10 years, my husband has maintained some form of a beard, whether it’s his chin or a full face beard. He especially likes growing a longer beard during the winter months to keep his face a little warmer. But if you or anyone you know has a beard, then you know that beard hair is very coarse and can be unruly at times. Using oils on your beard can help to soften and tame the hair.
I’ve been making beard oil for my husband for the last year or so and he really enjoys how soft it makes his beard. The other added benefits of using beard oil are that it can help to moisturize the skin underneath and help the beard to grow fuller and longer! What’s even better about making your own beard oil is that you can customize it and use oils that are most available to you and customize the scent too!

BEST OILS FOR MAKING BEARD OIL
Homemade beard oil is primarily made of oils, called carrier oils, and essential oils. While many oils can be beneficial to beard hair, there are a few that rank among the top. When deciding on the types of carrier oils to include in your beard oil, it’s important to choose ones that won’t clog pores and are extra moisturizing. While most carrier oils are moisturizing, some may clog your pores. Here are some of the best oils to use to make beard oil:
- Olive Oil: Olive oil is a wonderful healing and moisturizing oil that works great at conditioning hair and has a low chance of clogging pores.
- Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax that mimics natural sebum and is very nourishing. It absorbs into the skin quickly, is not greasy and has a low chance of clogging pores.
- Castor Oil: Castor oil is a thick oil that is rich in omega-6 fatty acids that is great for promoting hair growth. It’s also great for those with acne-prone skin as it does not clog pores.
- Sweet Almond Oil: Sweet almond oil is great at moisturizing the skin and hair and shouldn’t clog pores.
