  • Large baking sheet
  • Tin foil

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 1/2 pound ground mild sausage
  • 1/2 pound ground hamburger
  • 1 cup diced peppers sweet or spicy
  • 28 oz can original Bush’s baked beans

Instructions

  • Add 1/2 pound of bacon to a lined baking sheet and place in a cold oven. Turn the oven on 400°F and bake for 13-15 minutes or until the bacon is fully cooked.
  • Blot the bacon to remove the grease, then chop it and set aside.
  • In a large cast iron skilled, cook ground sausage and hamburger together until fully cooked and drain any grease.
  • Add the peppers of your choice to the pan and cook until they're soft.
  • Add the bacon and baked beans to the skillet and stir together.

Notes

  • Cook the bacon in the skillet first, then drain the grease to keep this a one pan meal.
  • I like to cook 1 pound of sausage and 1 pound of hamburger together then set aside 1/2 of the mixture for a future meal!
  • Use either sweet or spicy peppers depending on your preferences.
  • Try adding some chili seasoning to give these cowboy beans a kick
