Materials

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • cup sweet almond oil see notes for alternatives
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp allspice or pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 5-8 drops sweet orange essential oil

Instructions

How to Make Orange Spiced Sugar Scrub

  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, sweet almond oil, cinnamon, allspice, vanilla extract and sweet orange essential oil until it's well combined.
  • Transfer the scrub into an airtight glass container (mason jars work great). Use the sugar scrub within six months!

How to Use Orange Spiced Sugar Scrub

  • With clean hands, scoop out about a quarter size amount (or more) of your orange spiced sugar scrub and massage it gently onto the skin in circular motions. For added exfoliation, you can apply this using an exfoliating glove or brush.
  • After massaging the sugar scrub for a minute or two, simply rinse off the sugar with warm water.

Notes

  • I used organic cane sugar in this recipe, but any sugar you have on hand will do!
  • If you're using this sugar scrub on your face, white or brown sugar will be a better option because the granules are smaller and should be less irritating.
  • If you don’t have sweet almond oil, you could use coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, et cetera.
  • I like to use sweet orange essential oil in this recipe, but you can also substitute with about a tablespoon of orange peel powder or fresh orange zest. If you use fresh zest, be sure to use the sugar scrub within a week. I would also store it in the refrigerator.
  • Applying sugar scrub can get messy, so I would suggest applying this in the shower or over a sink. Beware that the cinnamon and allspice may temporarily stain your skin and other surfaces.
  • Cinnamon could be a skin irritant for some, so if you're sensitive to cinnamon, you can omit it all together.
